Medical Cannabis Comes to Kentucky
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear signed SB 47 into law in March 2023, making Kentucky the 38th state to legalize some form of medical cannabis. The law allows patients with qualifying conditions to purchase non-smokable cannabis products from licensed dispensaries.
The program has been rolling out in phases, with licensing, testing, and dispensary opening happening through 2024-2025. Notably, smokable flower is not permitted under Kentucky's medical program.
