Medical Cannabis in Mississippi
Mississippi's path to medical cannabis was unusual. Voters approved Initiative 65 in 2020 with 68% support, but the Mississippi Supreme Court struck it down in 2021 due to a constitutional technicality. The legislature then passed SB 2095 in 2022, creating a more restrictive medical program than what voters had originally approved.
Despite the setbacks, the program launched successfully with dispensary sales beginning in early 2024. The state has a growing network of licensed dispensaries.
