Minnesota legalized recreational cannabis in May 2023 through HF 100, becoming the 23rd state to do so. The law went into effect August 1, 2023, allowing possession and home growing. Licensed retail sales are being phased in, with the first dispensaries expected to open in early 2025. The state also has a medical program.

Recreational: 21+

Medical: 18+

Purchase Limits

Rec: 2 oz of flower in public, 2 lbs at home. 8g of concentrate, 800mg THC in edibles.

Med: A 90-day supply as determined by patient's healthcare practitioner

Public Consumption

Prohibited in public places, including sidewalks, parks, and restaurants. Private property only.

Home Growing

Adults 21+ may grow up to 8 plants, with no more than 4 being mature (flowering). Must be in an enclosed, locked area.
